This turntable is different. The short, jewelled unipivot tonearm (with a high compliance cartridge) sits in the lid and provides a drive (via an optical sensor) to the platter, which then moves under the arm. That it works at all is amazing. With the caveat that it doesn't like warps, it also actually sounds good!
